Both today and yesterday I have spend my time trying to colour grade all my footage, as I managed to finish colour correction on Sunday.
Yesterday I talked about how I’m feeling about the work I have done so far, and even though I have ‘finished’ colour grading today, I am still feeling disappointed by what I have created, but I will definitely try to improve by the time it comes to hand-in.
My ideas for grading are clear, as I have talked about them the whole way through this project, specifically shown in my edited and coloured storyboard, so I will just show how I did it.
Grading:
Towards the start of my film, I made the colours lean towards the reds and pinks, moving the offset and gamma icons to the red/pink, and adjusting the tint.

It may look like I have just undone my work with colour correcting (what was the point?), but there is a difference.
At the start, the shot was very warm, so after I colour corrected, I made the colours what they were ‘supposed’ to look like, and then from there I can adjust the colours to look however I wanted them to.
Before any editing, after colour correction, after grade + vignette.
I decided to add a vignette even in the clips at the start of my film, because I thought it brought the whole clip together? Vignette is usually used to add a dark and moody effect on a scene, but in my scenes I thought it just enhanced what was already there through the colour, and helped to direct the audiences eyes towards the centre.
Towards the end of the film I made the colour lean towards the blues instead, and adjusted the temperature.
I also made the vignette a bit darker.

Audience Response:
I showed my mum the final film and here is the response I got:
--Colour looks good
-Colour is clear, sound was alright
-Cut at end, how do I fix that
-It goes out of focus
Her feedback matches with how I already feel about my project at this specific moment in time, and I am thankful for her feedback.
I also email Joel my film because I was unhappy with how it looked, and below was his feedback:

I haven't had a tutorial with Joel since I changed my idea slightly so it was interesting to see his feedback. Creating a film showing different times of day really isn't the idea I had in mind when I planned the film, and lighting. However, different people have different views on things and it was interesting to hear that that's how he read it.
I will try and improve my work using the feedback from my mum, Joel, and myself.
Conclusion:
Overall, I have finished Draft 3 of my film, with it finally graded, but I am definitely not happy with the film I have created.
I hope to improve on what I have done before hand-in, but for now I need to focus on my promotional aspect of my project, including naming my film and considering ideas for movie posters.
