Today I wanted to focus on getting a solid idea for my film done, so to get some ideas flowing in my brain I started off by creating some mind maps.
Change in idea:
As my original idea was to follow multiple timelines (multiple people), I think that is what has stressed me out a bit. So I have changed my idea for the film slightly. Instead of following multiple narratives, I have decided to follow the narrative of one person and show how their emotions change throughout.
I can still change the colours throughout the film, as peoples emotions change and I can show that throughout the film.

By following the narrative of only one person this will also allow me to spend more time making the storyboard, as I won‘t need to spend time thinking of more than one story.
Following on from the timeline experimentation I did, I like the idea of showing the progression of feelings throughout a story. Whether that is changing the storyline from happy—>sad or the other way round, or showing how someone’s feelings change when they meet another person.
I think by creating mind maps it has definitely helped to come up with ideas, as it helps to break down the ideas into sections and focus on them one by one, and develop them further.
Audio diary:
On top of creating mind maps, I also recorded an audio diary that also helped to talk about my ideas without worrying about having to express it in correct words.
It also helps me to expand my ideas as when I‘m talking more ideas end up forming.

When I create these audio diaries, which is basically me talking to myself, I come up with more ideas the more I talk.
Conclusion:
Overall, this process of coming up with a solid plot idea has taken a lot longer than I intended for it to, but I know now that idea creation might not be my strong point. Now I hope to move on and tomorrow I will get on with creating the storyboard, and from that I will experiment with different shots for the film.
