Today I had to swap my proposal with a peer and get their feedback on what they think is successful and what I could do to improve.
Feedback from Yasmin
Having a fresh set of eyes read through my proposal has helped me to evaluate what I can do to improve my proposal.
I also had a 1-1 seminar with Joel where I asked questions that I was unsure about, and he gave me some feedback on my proposal as well.
Both feedbacks said I needed to come up with a clear idea for my film, and what exactly it’s going to look like, rather than a rough vague idea. And when I was talking with Joel I was thinking and came up with an idea to film a film with different narratives but all with different colour schemes, to reflect different moods.
Feedback from Joel
He recommended a film called Mystery Train (1989), which uses multiple timelines as well, using a gunshot in each of the scenes to show that they are happening all at the same time but following different stories.
It has definitely inspired more ideas for my project and I will definitely watch that film.
I’m very grateful fort he feedback I got from both Yasmin and Joel as it helps me to take a break from the train of research I do, and to view my work and see the things I am missing. I will now amend my project proposal according to the feedback I received.
