4/2/22 Mind Mapping Ideas + Video Diary

Today i was starting to think about the narrative of my film, and how i'm going to edit it. I am also going to draw a storyboard soon, to work on trying out non-linear storylines to see how that could change the effect on the viewer.

Things I know for certain I want In film is to have my grandad play my main character; as out of everyone I know I think he will fit the role best. I want the story to follow him doing every day activities, waking up, looking out the window, making food, etc. but also showing how dementia effects his life, in small ways that would ultimately add up to be revealed at the end. I want to have the narrative as my main focus, to have slow wide shots, and to focus on the character, while thinking of ways of creating a subjective storyline, to bring the audience through the storyline along with my protagonist.

I have a lot of ideas floating in my head for this film, and with so many things i need to do for this project, it's hard to try and come up with one idea. So i thought that writing down all my ideas, even if it is messy would be a good idea to get all of my ideas on paper, and to try and sift out what i could use.

Some ideas i wrote down in my notebook^^

Some of the ideas that came out on paper were:

-wide shots

-slow movements of camera, nothing quick/dramatic

-tracking character / still shots

-repetitions of shots, with different things changing every time you see it

-empty shots of the house - looks empty - no character in frame

-character uses notes to remember things

-writes notes to make sure he remembers to do things

-looking through photos - mementos

-interactions with other people - confusing names - thinks they are other people

-incorporating my nan’s tree into storyline, used as a memento to remember her.

After I had all of these ideas on paper in front of me, i started to create my storyboard, and even more ideas came to my head. I recorded these voice notes to record my ideas in a verbal way because i don’t have time to think about how to put them into words.

Voice note videos i made explaining some of the ideas i have for my film.
