Today we were creating stop frame animations, there were different stations in the room that we could use to create them, for example creating clay models, moving letters/paper, there were little models we could create scenes with, as well as dragon-frame animation as well.
I was most interested by the clay animation as i am a big fan of Tim Burtons clay animation films (The Nightmare before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, etc.), as well as other animations like Coraline, Monster House, Paranorman etc.
^^The behind the scenes of me making my clay animation
I'm not very good at designing things/drawing them, so my characters features aren't exactly accurate, but i did manage to create a few characters that i used throughout my animation. The storyline of my animation is a person trying to cheer up their clearly sad friend by giving them a hug but they're still upset, so they get them a present, but they still can't seem to cheer them up. Then they come up with an idea and bring a friendly dinosaur for them to play with, and it works.
I made some contact sheets of the photos i took
I made the animation in photoshop, using the timeline and turning on and off layers to create my scenes. I made most of the frames last 0.1seconds each, but some of them i made a bit longer, because of the slow in and slow out principle of animation (in the video i watched yesterday).
Below is what my final animation looks like:
