I have handed in my Altered States Part 2 film, and I thought I would write a short evaluation talking about what I thought went well/not so well.
Colour editing is definitely something I have gained an interest for throughout this project, and I have found editing clips in my spare time really interesting to do. Whether that was using a film as an inspiration for certain colour shots, for example the inspiration I had behind Pan’s Labyrinth’s colour palette, and trying to replicate the same effect on a different clip. Or just colour correcting a video found online.
There was definitely trial and error, and it may have taken me longer than it should have, but I love learning new things and being able to apply new techniques I find into my own work. Also learning just generally how to use Premiere Pro is useful, as I will be using the software a lot more in the future, so becoming more confident using it is important. Learning new skills will hopefully make my projects in the future even better.
I think this project was a lot about experimentation, especially Altered States Part 1, but I think I carried the idea of trying new things into Part 2 of this project as well.
Another new thing I have tried during this project is the dolly-zoom. It has been something I have always wanted to try, so to have the opportunity to experiment and try it out in this project was great. Looking back on it now it wasn’t very successful, but it was interesting to try and learn how to actually do it.
Overall, I think this project was fun and definitely a learning process, and for future projects I think I will try to incorporate the new skills I have learnt throughout this project.
