Creating my movie poster

2004946

I have been experimenting in Photoshop with different ideas for my movie poster. I have reflected the painting, taking inspiration from the movie posters for 'Mirrors', and 'The Night', but i have also been editing the photo using gradient maps, testing out different colours and seeing which one i like the most. Red and black were the first two colours to come to mind, as they are a popular choice of colour in horror film posters, but also helps to emphasise the creepy storyline in a way.

I also wanted to experiment with the font of the text, because i wasn't too happy with the font i used in the first posters. I also realised that the release date of the film is a big detail i need to include on the poster. I decided just before Halloween would be a good date to release my horror film as it is a spooky time of the year, and people would want to watch horror/scary films in the cinema leading up to/on halloween.

Out of all the experiments i tried, the orange and red coloured ones were my favourite, as the contrast between the bright colours and the black on the poster makes it stand out. Orange and red are also quite spooky/autumnal colours which matches with the theme/time this movie is going to be released.
