Today we did a lighting fashion promotion workshop, using projectors and film cameras. I have never used a film camera before so it was really interesting to learn how to use it, and how to insert the roll of film into the camera. Per roll of film there was only 12 images, so when shooting with film you need to make sure the settings are correct (aperture, shutter speed, etc.) and that the camera is in the perfect position (best on a tripod) before taking the photo otherwise you waste the roll.
The film camera we used it shown below, we took it apart to understand the different parts of the camera and how they work, as well as actually taking a couple of photos each on them.
We used polystyrene boards to project our images onto. I would have used the photos i took during our alternative image making workshop two weeks ago, but there was a problem transferring my images onto the hard drive, so i just used random image that my group were using.
We then took photos using digital cameras to get an idea with how we wanted our photos to turn out, before using the film camera. To be honest i wasn't happy with how the images i took turned out, but here's a couple photos:
I used the background of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' as the image i projected, as i still wanted to link it to my project somehow. It turned out pretty cool, but i wish i had come up with better ideas in the moment.
