Today i was practicing different shots i could include in my film, inspired by a youtube video i found, which explained how to shoot a horror film:
In the video you can see he took a 'one-take' shot, travelling through his house while following his subject, to create suspense and keep the viewer on their toes. The use of slow camera movements builds suspense, and as the character leaves the shot, it makes the audience wonder where they went, and also makes them ask themselves 'will something pop up?'. It leaves the viewer uneasy, and that's exactly the effect i want to create in my film.
Using inspiration from the above video, i was trying to find different areas in my house that could recreate the same effect. I ended up taking this video:
My idea is that i can follow my subject walking in through the door, going into the kitchen and then into the living room, making him wait a couple seconds before entering, so it can build suspense as the viewers question where he went. I think the layout of my house works in my favour, as i can easily move between each room.
