Starting to film

2004946

Today i am going to start filming my scenes. Because i am filming at home, during the time i am studying on campus at UCA, i decided to spend my time watching different youtube videos on how to make an effective horror film at home.

Here are some of the ones i watched:

I made different notes whilst watching them, and picked up different ideas for how i'm going to film my own.

Distorted reality is generally what makes up most horror films, as common things like going to school/work, or shopping, is something that everyone watching horror films can relate to, therefore when these things are changed/distorted it makes it uncomfortable for the viewer to watch.

Horror isn't gore or monsters, it's a personal experience. Which is also why it's important for the audience to feel connection to the characters in the film, in order for it to be effective in bringing the emotions you want it to.

Family is also something a lot of people can relate to, so is a common topic for horror films to focus their plot around. Home is 'safe' for a lot of people, so when either the people you associate 'home' with turn against you, or your physical house itself is haunted, that's when it becomes a personal experience that can stay with you.
