The Night (2020)

As i was researching about my painting, i came across as film poster that directly uses ' Not to be reproduced' in their film. After doing more research, the film does exist, and is a 2020 psychological horror-thriller film directed by Kourosh Ahari. It turns out the actual movie poster is different (it's the films own take on the painting, as the character is looking into the mirror and there is a reflection of himself behind) but on the back of the dvd cover, it does feature the painting.

The plot of the film is:

An Iranian couple living in the United States are driving home after visiting some friends. However, the car's navigation system starts malfunctioning, and they end up getting lost. After driving around for a couple of hours, they decide to spend the night at the Hotel Normandie. The receptionist informs them that only one suite is available, and that the hotel doors are locked at night.

Babak and Neda begin to notice strange events during their stay at the hotel. The incidents unnerve the couple so much that they decide to leave the hotel. However, Babak forgets the car keys, and he returns to the hotel room to get them while Neda waits near the car. Babak then wakes up in the hotel room at around 3 am, and finds Neda and Shabnam sleeping peacefully next to him. He goes to the bathroom and sees that his reflection in the mirror is acting independently of him; the reflection turns around so that its back is facing him, reproducing a hotel painting seen earlier in the film (Not to be reproduced). As Babak looks at his reflection, a tear falls from his eye.

The analysis of this scene is that Babak will never leave the hotel until he tells Neda his secrets, and will remain in the multiverse of the hotel, with horrifying dreams and visions, and never make it out into a life of truth. Babak is too afraid to face himself, and his truth, and the film symbolises that by Babak's own reflection turning his back on himself, and never accepting who he truly is.
